Functional Neurology
Many people have never heard of Functional Neurology or its benefits.
So, what is Functional Neurology?
I look at it as a way of optimizing the nervous system for elite performance. It uses different activities or exercises to activate & integrate different areas of your nervous system to improve health and vitality.
I have personally seen the benefits that functional neurology treatments can provide:
When I was in college I was diagnosed with ADHD and prescribed Ritalin. This worked great in combination with the lifestyle changes that the doctor encouraged me to make, which included diet and exercise along with improved study habits. In fact, I saw a huge improvement in my grade point average.
Fast-forward several years later to chiropractic school. Everything was going pretty well, I was getting good grades and understanding all the material. Then, out of no where, in the middle of my 4th trimester I started getting every single side effect to the Ritalin all at once and I had to come off the medication completely.I was concerned that without the medication I would wouldn’t be able to keep up with the rigors of my studies. Fortunately, I was referred to a functional neurologist on campus to help me with my ADHD without medication. I was skeptical at first because I had been told that the only way to treat ADHD was with medicine.
He performed the most thorough exam that I had ever had and he explained what his finds were in a way that I could understand. He told me that I had an imbalance in how my brain was working and that if I performed specific activities it would bring my brain back into balance and allow me to study without medication. I was hopeful, but still skeptical. As instructed I did everything he told me to do and sure enough, I could study as well as I could when taking the Ritalin, but without any of the side effects.
It was right then and there that I decided to learn all that I could to help other like he helped me. If you’d like more information, please contact our office, we would be happy to help!
